2016 "Water Cube Cup" Chinese Song Contest for Overseas Chinese Youths Ends
On August 8, the Award Ceremony of 2016 "Water Cube Cup" Chinese Song Contest for Overseas Chinese Youths and the International Teenagers Get-together was held at the National Aquatics Center. Director Qiu Yuanping, Deputy Director Tan Tianxing of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of The State Council, Vice Chairman Qiao Wei of All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, Li Wei, member of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People's Congress and Minister of the Propaganda Department, Deputy Director Li Zhaoling of the Standing Committee of the Beijing Municipal People’s Congress, Vice Mayor Cheng Hong, Vice Chairman Zhao Wenzhi of Beijing Committee of CPPCC, Wang Yang, Deputy Minister of the United Front Work Department of CPC Central Committee and Deputy Secretary General of the All-China Youth Federation, president Zhi Jun and vice president Wu Xiaonan of the company attended the ceremony.
The organizer awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze Prizes, Network Popularity Award, and also awarded Organization Awards for a number of overseas contractors. Sixty-seven contestants from 32 countries showed their talents, and 15 contestants presented a proposal initiating overseas Chinese to contribute to the Olympic Winter Games. Nearly 2,000 people participated the ceremony, including "Roots Trip • Charming Beijing" summer camp members from the United States, Canada and other five countries, representatives of Overseas Chinese students studying in Beijing, students from 15 countries to attending the "International Youth Arts Festival" in Beijing, and young students from more than 20 provinces and cities.
Currently, the contest has been successfully held for six years, attracting tens of thousands of overseas Chinese youth in more than 30 countries to participate, and more than 800 overseas compatriots to involve. It has held more than 600 contests overseas, with tens of thousands of audiences and a total of ten million people voting Internet.
