More Than 900 Entities Hold Carbon Emissions Trading Accounts across Beijing, and Witness Ever-increasing Trading Scale Year by Year

Date:2017-06-23 count:1

In 2011, the National Development and Reform Commission officially approved Beijing, Shanghai and other five provinces and cities to launch the pilot for carbon trading. As one of the pilot cities, Beijing’s carbon trading market is operated by China Beijing Environment Exchange (a subsidiary of China Beijing Equity Exchange).

Since the trading initiation in November 2013, more than 900 entities have applied for accounts on Beijing’s carbon trading market up to now. Cumulative trading volume of carbon emissions quotas reaches 18.79 million tons, and the cumulative turnover amount reaches more than RMB677 million. Trading scale steadily increases year by year. In Beijing, carbon trading follows average price of RMB40-50/ton. Beijing ranks in the first place among all seven pilot cities throughout the country.

Common people can calculate carbon emissions, buy carbon reduction packages and pay via WeChat on China’s first-ever voluntary emission reduction service platform—“Service Account of China Beijing Environment Exchange”. This platform is set up by China Beijing Environment Exchange.
